Who does not know the popularity of Super Junior, SNSD, 2PM, Sistar, and EXO? For the teenagers, they one familiar with those korean artists due to they are the ones who started to spread Korean wave that is much loved. Now, the things about Korea get common interest. Especially, Indonesian teenagers who start to learn the ins and outs of Korean nation and begin to change their life style like Korean culture as a guide for expression. Whereas, Indonesian culture has begun to be forgotten. In few words, Korean wave reduces the sense of nationalism especially in life style of the Indonesian teenagers.
Korean culture specifically refers to Kpop or Hallyu. In Indonesia, it began to enter in 2000. As time goes by, the teenagers become rabid fans. In fact, they are willing to spend time and waste of money just to see their idol directly, started from attend their idol’s concert, love korean products and show a great sense to use a Korean style clothing. Even, using Hangul or korean language also popular. From all of these life styles, make teenagers will be lack of attention with our own culture, they do not appreciate the creation of Indonesian culture itself. Instead, they are applying that culture in everyday life, started to forget the Indonesian culture and to be indifferent to our original culture due to they prefer to Korean culture. From all of that, it will directly bring the effect to the sense of nationalism. Whereas, the teenagers who should be the people who know well about Indonesia’s culture itself.
Indonesian teenagers should be aware that their life styles is brought by the Korean wave and it would impact directly to the lack of a sense of nationalism. It is very scary when the culture of other countries, especially the Korean culture is much loved by our teenagers differ with our own culture that actually has a lot of things that need to be studied. So that, the teenagers have to begin to learn and love our own culture. If not us, who else.
